Iceland-based low-cost carrier PLAY Airlines has ceased operations as of today, canceling all flights.
The decision to halt operations was attributed to financial difficulties, weak ticket sales, and unrest among employees.
As part of a 2024 restructuring, the airline had shifted its focus to the European market, terminated U.S. flights, and relocated its operations base to Malta. However, these measures were not sufficient to ensure the company’s sustainability.
